The treatment of copper–gold ores by ammonium thiosulfate leaching

A direct thiosulfate leaching test was performed on a chalcopyrite concentrate with 3–5 g/L Cu 2+ addition and mild air sparging. A gold extraction of 97% was obtained after 1 h. Analysis of the leach liquors for thiosulfate indicated that 90–95% of the thiosulfate was accounted for and could be recycled (Berezowsky and Sefton, 1979).
