The copper areas on an enlarged photo-micrograph were outlined with a pencil in order to facilitate measurement. All measurements were carried out in duplicate. It took from 1.5 to 2 hours to measure the copper-areas of a photo-micrograph, the time varying with the clearness with which the edges of the eutectic were defined.
