A transmission clutch is a device that connects and disconnects two rotating shafts. In a washing machine, the clutch is what connects the washing machine's motor to the agitator. It is usually made up of two parts, an outer ring, and an inner ring. The outer ring is connected to the engine while the inner ring is connected to the agitator.
